Hey mom i cant believe its been another week! i woke up this morning thinking hmnm what should we teach so and so then the thought crossed my mind wait its time to wash clothes and then to go email my family!!! what!! i tell you i am so grateful for the way we are able to do laundry back at home... throw it in the washer and just forget about it for 45 mins then switch for and other hour and then fold with no problems. well hahah we wash our clothes with our hands in a bucket. it really makes me appreciate what i didn't before! also thank you for always doing my laundry while i was in the house even if i was a "pig" or a "disaster" happened in my room. i never told you thank you for all those times. and even sometimes i know that it was Bailey that did them for me! tell her thank you when you see her next.
I love getting your dear elders though being in hill station i get an abundance of them all at once its still sweet to see whats really going on with all you guys back home! i cant believe the rush of missionaries that are going out. truly the work is being speed up and i tell ya what i cant wait till i get to train my first 18 year old missionary! i hope it happens just so i can say that i did serve with an 18 year old and i was out on my mission when it happened. dude i tell ya i have many questions about the temple... some most of them i should only be asking in the temple so don't worry, i will be joining you on some Wednesdays when i get back to settle some thoughts and questions i have! but i tell ya i am learning so so much about the gospel out here. we often have alot of time to read and do things like that cause we have to be in before dark because of the dangers so we usually get in about 6 or 530 so i have lots of time to read. and haha I've done the Book of Mormon twice and almost done with the new testament going through it with an istatute bible and i tell ya our church is very hard to prove wrong if you read in between the lines and really follow the principals. i cant wait to be able to go to the temple and relive those things that i once got to see and come to know.
The work here in sierra leone is so crazy fast that really its all we as missionaries can do to fill our schedule with investigators who want to be baptized and who want to learn more. we don't have enough time to see everyone that comes to church or wants to know more. so there is definitively work here to be done in sierra leone. Elder Holland is coming to create a stake and i believe that hill station will become a ward what a reward that will be for them to be able to "move up" in the church level system. Elder Holland. what i cant believe that i guess it'll be pretty cool. not many people get to meet him and from what we have been hearing is that he will be talking to the missionaries again! what a face to face instruction with Elder Holland. hmm this could be very sweet!
As for me this week in sierra leone. it has been a pretty good week. we had seen some sweet people and i didnt have to eat too many free meals from the peopele. yeah im tired and going to complain about the food small here. the food is leaves that are mashed and boiled in oil served ontop of rice. the other day it really hit me and set in on me that thats what i was eating then i said to my companion can you belive this? is this for realy? we too often take for grantate that we as americans can eat whatever we want basicly whenever we want food is not in abunance here and there isnt much variety either. everything is made with rice. the bread rice flower and the rest is just sauce served on top of rice. its okay though cause we are coping and getting by! i am still loving my mission and Really learning alot. currently i am fastinated with "The church history, Fullness of times" manual that we have in our appartment. it is a beast of a book but it goes through and talks about all the church history starting with joseph smith. i was telling my dad that i have plenty of time to read and thats just what we do as missionaries in hill station is read cause when its dark we are in and there is no getting out. though power may or may not be there its just fun to me to read by a flashlight. sometimes it makes me feel as if i have just found a big treasure in a cave and im not willing to shar it with anyone so i read by flashlight! haha we have an investigator that is very smart and is reallly giving us some questions that we cannot answer that day that he asks. some pretty doctorernal questions. but i have you know that this week has been sweet and hot! i am doing sweet in sierra leone and wouldnt trade my time for anyones time right now :) TIA this is africa and i am in it! ELDER HALES
