I made it here to africa! the plane ride
was way long and yet very short at the same time! i met all the other elders
that were in the airport at the gate, there was five of us. when we went to
atlanta we met some more elders.. there was now ten of us. wow we looked cool
walking through the airport together with our name tags and all in suits. once
on the plane and in the air it really hit me. i was gone leaving and not coming
back for a very long time. i thought about everybody and almost everything you could
think of at a time like that. my heart sank and my emotions were froze in time.
africa. whats it like. my mom isnt here. dad isnt here. mckay isnt around.
caleb now without a right hand man. my sisters no more bugging them. grandpa
froze in time. all thoughts going through my head at the time. but i remembered
that i had some pictures and letters from home that got me back on track!! a
Missionary! going to africa! wow i was pumped! when we landed it was hot. we
got off on a steps that went right out side. that was a first! hot and humid.
to get inside the building you had to have a couple things. a plane ticket a
passport and a yellow fever card. i had two not three. yes i forgot where we
put my yellow fever card and i couldnt get in. i then found my other big card
and i was let in! the airport was very unorginized and very hot. after we then
went out into accra and wow how are we blessed at home with all sorts of
diffrent things you cant even fathom until its reality to you. one elder got
fooled out of 50 buck! guy carried his bag and told him he wanted a tip. he
opened his wallet and the guy took a 50 and ran. luckly for me my pack was too
heavy for any of the wimmpy africans to carry.. i have the heaviest bag in the
whole place as well as the biggest haha but less bags then everybody! okay one
more story before my time runs out! for lunch, lunch was good we had fried rice
and chicken.... the chicken still had some hair and feathers on it NO JOKE for
dinner fish soup :( not good! but anyway i made it here safely and will be
writing back soon! love you all more than you know and more than i told any of
you!
Dillon, as much as I'll miss teasing you in person at home, I can't wait to hear more if your adventures from Africa. :) Remember that you are loved and missed but the Lord has great purpose for you there and thats where you're needed most right now. When things get tough remember that ASAP has 2 meanings... Always Say A Prayer... Then when you really need it, add the As Soon As Possible at the end.
ReplyDeleteLove you so much!
