Dear Brother and Sister Hales,
Just a note to let you know what a delightful son you have that we are enjoying so much here at the Ghana MTC. I’m sure you are aware that his companion is a French speaker called to serve in an English speaking mission, without the opportunity to attend an MTC where they teach them their mission language. Even though it is a challenge for your son to communicate extensively with his companion, it is just amazing how much he has learned and how well he can function after just a little over a week—and you son has been a big part of his success. I told him that I wished his mother could see him now—because she would be so proud. Thank you for raising him and for sending him here to us. Just wanted you to know what a wonderful, mature young man he. All the best to you.
