Letter from President Ostler

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
SIERRA LEONE FREETOWN MISSION

                                                                                   November 27, 2013
Dear Brother and Sister Hales:

I am pleased to inform you that I have called Elder Hales as one of my Assistants  here in the Mission.

His primary responsibilities as an Assistant are to:

(1) Set an example for all the missionaries in the Sierra Leone Freetown Mission in his study of the scriptures and the gospel, in faith, obedience, hard work, planning and proselytizing skills, Christian acts of service, kindness, patience, humility and all other aspects of missionary work.

(2) Instruct and supervise Zone Leaders. He will proselyte on regularly planned splits with Zone leaders in their areas or in his area. He is to help Zone Leaders set their monthly goals. He is to help guide and direct their efforts.

(3) To assist me in monthly transfers, missionary assignments, discipline and office management.

(4) To oversee the mission office and be a pulse point for missionary activity throughout the mission.
He has been called as an Assistant  because the Lord knows the integrity of his heart and soul. His exemplary and selfless service, hard work, faith and obedience, as well as, the kindness and leadership strength have qualified him for this call.  I also know that he has a great and sincere desire to bring souls unto Christ and I believe that the mission as a whole can best accomplish it with him as an Assistant.

Thank you for sharing him with us!   We are sure he will continue to be a great missionary! We do love our missionaries.  The Lord's hand is on West Africa today.  This is a special mission.

Very Sincerely,

President David  B. Ostler
