Elder and Sister Lauritzen Blog and Yellow Fever
Elder Lauritzen with Elder Hales and Elder Richards of Hill Station. Elder Richards is from West Jordan and is in the same stake as Jon and Janie Lauritzen. Elder Hales (Spanish Fork) knows Nic and Ryan. Their apartment is a couple of blocks down the hill from us. Elder Hales had received a package from home and we brought it to the mission home so he could pick it up. They are teaching us how to get the best prices from street vendors and have promised to teach us how to cook pumpkin soup. We served them a drink in a glass and Elder Hales said, "What's this?" He was referring to the "glass" not the drink.
Elder Hales didn't take his Yellow Fever Card just the Yellow Fever Document. He was allowed into the country but he worries about coming home. Stacy sent Elder Hales a Yellow Fever Card via mail. Elder Hales has never received it so Stacy went to Health Department and got a new copy. The Health Department told her that the Cards are worth a great deal on the black market and not to send it via mail again but to find a missionary go to the same mission and send it with him. So I requested information from President and Sister Roggia this was the great reply I received from them today
Brother and Sister Hales,
You are right. We have never received the package with the yellow fever card. With the document that he has, that shows he received the yellow fever shot, we think we can have it recorded here in Freetown onto an international yellow booklet.
Elder Hales is doing wonderfully. He and his companion were in yesterday with a baptismal candidate. They had 20 out to church yesterday and have several baptisms coming up this weekend! As a companionship, they are happy together and very effective in their teaching. He is smiling and cheerfully talking about this wonderful, sacred work.
Please don't worry any more about this. If we need to have you scan the yellow fever card and send it to us, we'll let you know. Everything should be okay.
Warmly,
Sister Roggia
