Teaching Among Other Faiths

Wow family and friends, can you believe that it is now October  for all you fellow missionaries out there time fly's doesn't it? well this week as been such a sweet week in hill station. all the way in west AFRICA in a place we call Sierra Leone. this week i received my new companion and we have just been shredding things up!! He is super sweet and has the same teaching style as me! so we get along really well! so i don't really want to answer anyone's questions that they have this week. haha anyway. so this past week started out bad. a super long day in the apartment and crappy internet service last week! well the next day it just got better when my companion and i committed another three people to baptism! that wasn't all though. Wednesday was the day the new missionaries were coming in. well the mission home is in our area and there my companion and i were eating at this small little shack built by a cotton tree, out of old pants tarps and things. haha hard to describe the look of the place. put it this way nobody from the states would ever eat there unless their life really depended on it. anyway. were there eating out side right by the road and the mission van drives by with the new missionaries... hahah their eyes were just about to jump out of their heads. haha as my companion and i were all excited to have seen them we were walking away from the place when a man approached  he was a old man that resembled a muslem. he pulled us aside and wanted to know what we were about. as soon as we told him we were missionaries for the church he wanted to talk to us. so he was showing us to his house, when my companion and i decided that this man was as ''real'' muslem. as we started the lesson we asked him to pray with us to start it. he prayed in Arabic while my companion prayed.. not cool dude! so we knew this guy was going to be fun. well he just wouldn't accept the fact that Jesus is the son of god. well he said the bible never says he is the son of god. well i turned to Mathew and showed him that it does! Jesus himself. well long story short the man wouldn't even touch the book of Mormon that we were trying to give him! next time old man next time!! haha the very next day we met a very interesting man named Solomon  Solomon was a catholic man and he was just tired of the christian faith being more of a social event than faith he was looking for something that involved the family more than individuals.. sweet this is our gospel this guy is looking for.. and he spoke very good English  well as we were talking to him about the restoration he asked some hard questions that truly the spirit had taken over and was speaking for me and pulling from the scriptures that i have never read- coolest thing in the world when that happens-- anyway a knock on the door came (yes for once were got into a house that had legit walls and doors) he then opened the doors and invited the people in. they were missionaries from a faith called baiha they sat quietly as we kept on going about the restoration. we committed this man to church and to pray he accepted to do those things. the other missionaries were frustrated and giving us very dirty looks. yet they didnt want to talk. as the spirit was in the room... i nudged my companion and asked him baptismal date....  we then extended a baptismal date to this guy in front of the others. they didn't look happy at all. he accepted! we closed and asked if Solomon would pray right then and ask god if the message that we have brought to him if it was true or not... the baihi then cut in and said. we would also like to offer a prayer if you wouldn't mind. well being men of god we couldn't refuse. they then each both offered a prayer. not good ones though they were every provocitive and didn't even address heavenly father at all and didn't close in the name of Jesus Christ. so there my companion and i were kneeing on the ground just waiting for an amen... a couple minutes went by.. nothing..... well then Solomon said amen and then we opened our eyes. we didn't say amen though. we didn't agree ahahahah awkward silence.  then the lord constrained me to give this man a family proclamation to the world. the other missionaries were furious but our gospel is true and we know it! Righteous indignation! Africa is so sweet! so much religious fun!! ELDER HALES!!
