November 18 real post

So Elder Buah and I had a wonderful and filled week. one funny story while we were teaching.  We set a  whole morning of contacting in a particular area where we never go to and we targeted a whole street that we wanted to find some Families to teach.  As we started from house to house we found some less active members! Score!  And then on the next couple of houses we met were some sweet families that welcomed us in and we had lessons.  In a matter of three hours we had 5 good contacts and even small lessons!  Most of the people are of the Islamic faith and is going to take some time to really get into their families the doctrine behind having a family prayer every morning in the christian way.  One thing I admire about their religion is their dedication to God. 5 daily prayers and even having to wake up in the middle of the night to pray? haha most of the Muslim (let me call the Islamic faith by that short nickname) families have family prayer each day.  Most generally in the morning prayer and evening prayer.  But my companion and I invited them all to have family prayer and to try to pray the way that "Nebula Esiah"  (which is Jesus Christ) had taught us to pray.   Or in the christian way but the highlight of our morning that day was when we met Claude, Claude is a man that is retired banker and a christian. we did some how begin teaching lesson with him to introduce our purpose as missionaries and as we were asking him some questions he was just willing to answer.  BUT our favorite question and answer that we got from him was when we asked him what the good things that Jesus had done for him in his life.  He started counting and telling us, using his fingers to count. he got to four main points and then we shifted the question and asked what about God what has he done in your life to bless you.  Then with the same hand and the same fingers started to count down with those fingers.  At the end of his thinking all he could think of was three blessing and main points.  Leaving up one finger.... this old man was using his middle finger and flippin us off! (though he didn't know) holding his hand and waving it in front of us over and over again. haha my companion and I nearly burst out laughing. after that lesson we walked away laughing!  A lot of Elder Buah and I proselyting have just been filled with funny moments and little things that we are jut having a good time together!

The last thing that I want to talk about is our Elders quorum activity that we had.  We had an upcoming branch conference and we wanted to really have some investigators and really have some of the elders quorum be involved in our work as missionaries.  So we worked with the elders quorum leader and came up with some ideas to get home teaching going and our elders active.  So what we did was in the morning of Saturday we had "contacting" we took tables from the church and a whole bunch of missionary tracks out and went to the streets.  We broke up into four groups and went to very populated places and just contacted and gave tracks out and invited and invited many people to church.  My companion and I (in our fun companionship)  decided that we should preach on the street!  So we started up.  It just started by some small children listening and then ended to a whole group of about 20 or 30 people on the street listening to me propounding the gospel of Jesus Christ and inviting everyone to repent and be baptized it was fun really and it made me think of all the older missionaries in the first dispensation how that's what they did to get people to the church.  Well, after all the work and contacting we had 32 new people at church that were there from contacting.  The church was really full with a number of 158 people in our small chapel!  It was all we could hold. The work in the Kenema is growing so rapidly and I am so thankful to be here at such a great time of growth.  If it was my wish I would wish to stay here the rest of my mission!  I love the people here and especially the members. Truely a Kowboy of Kenema!

love you ELDER HALES
